The Secret Thread of Time: Memories of Women, Exile, and Resistance is a historical and family novel that spans three generations, chronicling the life of a Cuban family from the late 19th century to the 1970s.
The story begins with María Teresa, the daughter of a marble worker and a housewife, who at the age of three crosses the sea from Havana to Tampa, where she witnesses one of José Martí’s most memorable speeches. From then on, her life is intertwined with the great events of Cuban history: the Machado dictatorship, the political instability of the Republic, World War II, and finally, the Revolution of 1959.
